Olympiacos announced the signing of Josh Powell for the season. The player will replace Joey Dorsey. Powell, who won the NBA with the Lakers, was recently cut by the Spurs at the training camp. Last season Powell has played mostly in China.

Powell appeared in six exhibition matches with San Antonio, averaging 6.1 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 60.9 percent from the field.

The terms of Powell’s deal are not available. The two-time NBA champion last played in the NBA two seasons ago with the Atlanta Hawks.

In the Spurs’ fourth exhibition victory, Powell earned nearly five minutes of action. He missed his only attempt while grabbing two rebounds. The two-time NBA champion outlasted forward Derrick Brown and Eddy Curry, averaging 5.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in six preseason contests.

San Antonio also exercised their third year team options on 2011 draft picks Cory Joseph and Kawhi Leonard. Joseph, who will earn $1.1 million next season, has yet to make a dent in the backcourt rotation and could face anther extended stint with the Austin Toros.

Leonard, meanwhile, has taken a different path to the NBA. Slated to make $1.9 million next season, Leonard has been labeled the face of the franchise and continues to make tremendous strides improving his game.

“It feels good,” Leonard said. “I know I’ve got another year under my belt for sure. I get to come back my third year and play basketball for the Spurs. I’m happy in San Antonio and happy I don’t have to worry about trying to find another team to play for.”
