While the Association isn’t nearly as aclaimed as the NFL’s version, HBO’s Hard Knocks, and doesn’t engender the same intrigue; the product is strong and it does delve deep into the nature of a NBA team.
But the structure of the NBA, as players rarely receive non-guaranteed deals like the NFL (where being cut is always a possibility), prevents moments like the Miami Dolphins severing ties with Chad Johnson on national television, which was one of the highest rated Hard Knocks episodes ever.
The first episode, featuring the Brooklyn Nets in their first season at the $1 billion Barclays Center, will air on NBA TV at 10:00 p.m. EST on Oct. 16.
The addition of Joe Johnson — along with Deron Williams’ five-year, $98 million contract — will likely make them viable contenders in the Eastern Conference.
