While Kevin Durant is only 23-years-old, he is already a premier scorer in the NBA with a league-leading average of 28 points per game. With three consecutive scoring titles under his belt, Durant is, if not the very best, one of the most talented scorers in the NBA. His unlimited range and lanky body make it very difficult to impede his progress.
Containing Durant — he averaged 22.7 points while shooting 46.8% from the field in three games against San Antonio — will be imperative if the Spurs want to advance to their fifth NBA Finals in 14 years. Gregg Popovich certainly feels the pressure of defending Durant.
“They have a lot of gifted guys,” Popovich said. “(Kevin Durant) is not the only one who scores so there’s a lot of problems that one has to deal with the Thunder. It’s just one hell of a team, really well coached, disciplined. They are pretty special.”
