On a night where San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker only mustered seven points on 1-of-9 shooting, he still managed to make an impact with 11 assists. He simply took advantage of the Clippers’ defensive attention and found his teammates spotting up from the perimeter or cutting towards the hoop.
It’s a positive step in his maturation as a point guard. In years past, the lack of scoring opportunities would have hampered his game. Not anymore.
“We are deep,” Parker said. “We can make shots. And if they want to use that strategy (preventing Parker from beating them), then I’m pretty confident on my teammates that they are going to make shots consistently.”
