Looking at the standings yesterday, you could almost make a case that it was time to panic in San Antonio.  However, the response from the Spurs was something entirely different.  Shutting down the Thunder in the 4th quarter, the Spurs beat Oklahoma City 95-87.

Spurs Historical Clip: 1983 playoffs

AUTHOR: Matthew Svoboda | IN: NBA, Spurs, Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Starting with the ABA in the 1970’s, the San Antonio Spurs have a long history of success in basketball.  While it took until 1999 for them to make the NBA Finals, the team was a success long before then.  This included being one of a few teams to play in both the Eastern Conference (1978-79) and Western Conference (1981-82, 1982-83, 1994-95) Finals.  For trivia purposes, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, Washington, Houston and Golden State (the made the East Division Finals as the Philadelphia Warriors) are the only other teams to have done this.  The Spurs also won 9 division titles in [...]

AUTHOR: Matthew Svoboda | IN: NBA, Recap, Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Philadelphia 106, San Antonio 94, recap & thoughts plus d-league developments

AUTHOR: Matthew Svoboda | IN: Austin Toros, NBA, Recap, Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the 4th quarter of last night’s game I was starting to put ideas together for how I was going to recap the action.  Then Louis Williams stole those ideas and ran off with them, scoring 2 idea points and getting fouled in the process.  I know, it’s a terrible lead in but for 1:55 of the 4th quarter, Louis Williams stole a game from the Spurs.
