Free Agency Begins – Top Big Men For Spurs

by Spurs

free-agency1

The Free Agency period has begun and we all know that we the Spurs are lacking a big man to help out Tim Duncan.  Right now we have Matt Bonner that will be taking over that position but there are some pretty good big men out there that I feel could help the Spurs.  These are not the top five in the NBA but the top five that I feel are out there.

SOME OF THE TOP BIGS IN MY EYES

Dwyane Wade 1. Wallace Dwyane Wade G MIN FG% 3P% FT% STL BLK RPG AST PTS
66 32.2 .419 .354 .772 .94 1.30 7.4 1.4 12.0
The top big man I feel the Spurs can get and help us out is the Pistons Rasheed Wallace. Nearly 7 foot this man has a nice stroke from downtown and  could help the Spurs spread the floor for Timmy down low.

Dwight Howard 2. Villanueva Dwyane Wade G MIN FG% 3P% FT% STL BLK RPG AST PTS
78 26.9 .447 .345 .838 .64 .72 6.7 1.8 16.2
The Bucks declined to extend his qualifying offer so Villanueva became a free agent on Monday.  Spurs are one of many teams looking at this 24 year old.  Guy that can score in and out. Another good option for the Spurs.

James 3. Gortat Dwyane Wade G MIN FG% 3P% FT% STL BLK RPG AST PTS
63 12.6 .567 1.000 .578 .29 .84 4.5 0.2 3.8
He is a restricted free agent but the Spurs have expressed interest in this 25 year old. Though he played just under 13 minutes last year and scored 3.8 a game. He was playing behind Howard too.

Jason Kidd 4. Andersen Dwyane Wade G MIN FG% 3P% FT% STL BLK RPG AST PTS
71 20.6 .548 .200 .718 .58 2.46 6.2 .04 6.4
“Birdman” has a lot of energy and shot blocking skills that showed everyone in the league that he is a great defender and can be called upon in big games. He could be a great asset to San Antonio.

Chris Paul 5. McDyess Dwyane Wade G MIN FG% 3P% FT% STL BLK RPG AST PTS
62 30.1 .510 .000 .698 .66 .81 9.8 1.3 9.6
Detroit is rumored to try and resign McDyess but that won’t stop other teams for targetting this 6’9″ power forward/center.  McDyess shot 51% last year in 62 games and grabbed 9.8 rebounds.

Again these are just the top five players that I feel can help us this coming season. I always want to hear some of your feedback so by all means feel free.

James Singleton was very impressive when Nowitzki was down last year. He seems to be a hard worker, good defensive player who rebounds and blocks and have better than average stats when with the ball or on the foul line.....and he should be cheaper than all of the above
