Game #72: Spurs, Clippers Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tim Duncan should be ready to play against Clippers. The San Antonio Spurs usually coast through most of the regular season before turning up the intensity for a playoff push. That late surge has been delayed this season due to injuries to their “Big Three,” but that’s about to change. For the first time in six weeks, the Spurs expect to have Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili in the lineup together Friday night when they host the lowly Los Angeles Clippers, who haven’t won in San Antonio in seven years. With a one-game lead over Houston in the [...]

Spurs Team Report (March 26)

AUTHOR: | IN: Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Gregg Popovich knows Don Nelson, having assisted the Warriors coach during Nelson’s first stint with Golden State. So when the Warriors rebounded San Antonio’s missed free throw with 5.5 seconds left down one point Tuesday, the Spurs were ready.  “We knew they weren’t going to call timeout,” forward Ime Udoka said. “I don’t know if somebody overheard them, or what, but we knew and we had our matchups down.”  Popovich and Nelson are both anti-timeout in that situation, instead preferring to catch the defense before it gets set. The problem for Golden State: the Spurs were plenty set and pressured [...]

Game 71: Spurs 102, Hawks 92

AUTHOR: | IN: Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Atlanta, Georgia — The Atlanta Hawks met one of the best point guards in the league tonight Mr. Tony Parker. Tony had his way with the Hawks as he scored 42 points on 18 of 25 shooting from the floor. Though that wasn’t the big news from tonight, the return of Manu Ginobili. Gino who has been sidelined with an injury made his long awaited return to the lineup tonight. Though he didn’t shoot the ball well, 1 of 7 from the floor for 2 points, he did grab two rebounds and had one assist. For me it was good [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

By MATT BEARDMORE, STATS Writer Story Credit: NBA.COM  San Antonio finally won a close game. Now the Spurs will see if they can maintain the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference standings. After closing out its homestand with a much-needed win, San Antonio travels to Atlanta on Wednesday night to face a playoff-hungry Hawks team looking to extend its season-high winning streak at Philips Arena. Tuesday’s 107-106 victory over the Golden State Warriors was a welcome change for San Antonio (46-24), which had dropped three of four by seven total points. “Definitely a relief,” said Roger Mason, who made [...]

Game 70: Spurs vs Warriors

AUTHOR: | IN: Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

San Antonio, Texas: The San Antonio Spurs rallied to hold off on losing their third straight game as they downed the Warriors 107-106. Tony Paker had a strong night and he also had a good supporting class behind him as Tim Duncan and Roger Mason (say it with me) JR. each scored 20 or more points. The Warriors gave the Spurs yet again another good game. Though I thought watching the game the Spurs gave it up as Duncan was posting down low and had the ball knocked away from him. That led to Azabuike scoring the lead bucket for [...]

Spurs Find Good News Despite Skid

AUTHOR: | IN: Spurs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Joe Reinagel Kens5 Sports Reporter It has been a rough couple of days for the Spurs, losers of two in a row and three of their last four. But all is not lost: Despirte the losing streak there has been one player who is picking up his game at just the right time. Ime Udoka is beginning to shine for the Silver and Black. In fact, on Sunday Udoka scored 16 points, nine of which came in the fourth quarter. But it goes back farther than that. Udoka did not get much time at all early in the season but [...]
